One easy travel day brings the group to the gateway of the darshan flight. The plains of western Nepal feel far from the Himalaya — yet the mountain is already near in the air ahead.
Guests from Kathmandu take the short domestic flight to Nepalgunj. Guests from Lucknow travel by private road transfer across the border into Nepal, a comfortable journey planned as a single day.
On arrival in Nepalgunj, you check into the best available hotel. In the evening, the team confirms the flight window for tomorrow morning, and the group retires early — the darshan flight begins in the morning light, when visibility is usually at its best.
Nepalgunj is a warm, lowland plains town near the Indian border. Sleeping low tonight is part of the design of this yatra: the body carries no altitude stress into the flight day.

You transfer to Nepalgunj airport in the early morning and board the chartered mountain flight. Every passenger has a window seat. The flight crosses the Himalayan ranges, enters the Tibetan plateau airspace and circles Mount Kailash — the southern and eastern faces — giving both sides of the aircraft their time before the sacred peak.
