Pasang Sherpa carries the quiet confidence of a guide who has earned his years in the high mountains. Over 15 years he has walked nearly every major trail in Nepal and has taken part in expeditions including Mount Everest, Himlung and Baruntse. On a route that sleeps above 4,500 m and crosses the Dolma La at 5,630 m, that history carries real weight.

He notices the small physical signs in his guests long before anyone feels overwhelmed, and he adjusts the pace early rather than late. He also speaks German, which many of our European pilgrims appreciate across the long driving days of Tibet.

Lakpa Namgel Sherpa grew up in a Sherpa community where mountain life was simply daily life, and guiding came to him naturally. Over 15 years he has led journeys across Nepal’s major regions, above all the Everest area, where he knows the trails almost as well as the families who live along them.

He is at his best in the quiet moments of a walking day: a cup of tea shared, a distant peak named, a tradition explained at the side of the trail. Guests feel settled in his company from the very first day, and on the kora, feeling settled is worth a great deal.

Urken Sherpa grew up where the trails were part of everyday life, and he has now guided for 12 years across Nepal’s main trekking regions. Guests remember one quality above all: he stays cheerful through the long, tiring days, and that cheerfulness carries a group further than any speech could.

The kora asks for exactly this. Three walking days at high altitude, simple guesthouses, early starts and the highest point of the whole journey between two night camps. Urken keeps the mood gentle, adjusts the pace without fuss and shares stories from Sherpa life when the legs grow tired.

Amrit Rana Magar has guided for 15 years, from the classic trails of Everest and Annapurna to remote corners like Upper Mustang and Upper Dolpo, with a climbing background on Island Peak, Mera Peak and Yala Peak. He reads people well: their comfort, their confidence and their energy, and he makes sure no one feels rushed or left behind.

He speaks English, Hindi and Japanese. For many of our NRI families, walking the kora with a guide who speaks Hindi changes the feel of the whole journey: questions, stories and small talk can all happen in the mother tongue.

Chandra Rai comes from the hills of eastern Nepal and has guided for 15 years across the country’s major routes. His gift is patience with first-time trekkers: he quietly watches a group, notices when someone needs a rest, and changes the pace before anyone has to ask.

Many Kailash pilgrims are walking in the high mountains for the first time in their lives, some of them in their sixties and seventies. For them, a guide like Chandra is often the difference between merely finishing the kora and truly living it.

Hari Panday has spent 10 years between two worlds: the trekking trails of Everest and Annapurna, and the heritage squares and temple courtyards of the Kathmandu Valley. He hosts our pilgrims through the city days, explaining temples, palaces and living traditions in simple, clear language.

He speaks English, Chinese and Nepali. Many pilgrims tell us that the Kathmandu days set the tone for everything that follows, and Hari makes sure that tone is warm.
